Around 4pm GMT (10am CDT) yesterday, 21st September 2022, our customers began reporting that a ton of YouTube comments were missing.
YouTube’s UI, for example, say’s a video has 497 comments but when scrolling down, you can only see 50 comments.
Reddit has been awash with such reports.
Some Redditors gave a workaround of sorting the comments by “Newest first”. Even sorting by newest first doesn’t allow all replies to be shown, however.
Switching devices won’t help either, Android and PC are confirmed to be affected.
One user writes:
I've had the issue of not being able to see all replies (mostly on desktop) for months now. Didn't realise it was a new thing.

Recently, YouTube has been ramping up efforts to stop spammers.
Some Reddit users speculate that in an attempt to block more spammers, YouTube is hiding too many comments.
